Butchery
Slicing, cutting, hacking, severing, cleaving the joints of meat in the heat of the Havana day. Quite a difference from the shrink wrapped, sanitised food we buyin in the UK.
Meat market
Imagine shopping at a butcher's shop when the air temperature is 30'c and the meat has been hanging up all day. How would that smell? What would it look like?
Sitting down
Sitting. People would sit. As I walked around the streets of Old Havana, in amongst the hustle and bustle, people would be sitting. On door steps, chairs or benches, people would sit and watch the world go by.
Cuban Bug
While walking around Havana we saw many old cars, mostly classic American vehicles in various states of repair. This wonderfuly maintained classic VW Bug trundled down the road and I had to take a pic.
Selling fruit
Taken on a corner of a street in Old Havana, Cuba. These street vendors were prevalant, although the main goods for sale were fruit or flowers.
Street repairs
Tacon Street in Old Havana has a section that is paved with wooden blocks. We were told by our guide that this was because a lady living in the house next to the road didn't like the noise of carts and carrage wheels on the stone cobbles and therefore had it relaid with wooden blocks to reduce the noise.
